Feeding the Hungry - February 6th, 2016
Come and help those in need:
President Jeff just announced that in addition to our ongoing project to help feed our homeless neighbors, one of our club's projects this year will be to package 10,000 meal packs for the most needy people on the planet. Each package provides a full day's nutritional and caloric requirements for 6 people, so our 10,000 meal packs will feed 60,000 people. The packages are vegetarian and can be combined with local spices so that the food fits within any culture. We'll be packaging the meals on February 6 from noon-4 at the PG&E Education Center. Be sure to put it on your calendar and invite family and friends.
Watch the video below or go to Stop Hunger Now for more info. Just another project where we can demonstrate Rotary's motto of Service Above Self. Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike are welcome to help. Can't attend? You can make a donation. $0.29 is all it takes to create one package. Registration is required. President Jeff Rings In the New Rotary Year
President Jeff Stulberg led our first meeting of the new 2015-16 Rotary Year by outlining his plans for the year. The RI Theme is "Be a Gift to the World" and he said we'll have lots of opportunity to do that this coming year. He'll be focusing on fun and fellowship and has plans for doing just that with our SLO Family Picnic at Biddle Park on August 30 and Rotary Night with all SLO Rotary and Rotaract Clubs getting together on September 21 at Shalimar Indian Restaurant.
The theme of the President's Club is "Jeff's Big Fish Club" and generous members donated $4,000 to get the club started, the proceeds of which will benefit projects that serve our local community. You donate at any level at anytime throughout the year. The banner will be in the meeting room, so check it out and decide the level that best fits your financial situation.
